Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA)

Candidates who are looking for government sponsored financial aid directly focusing on Native Americans should check the funding opportunities with the BIA. A subsection of the United States Department of the Interior, the Bureau of Indian Affairs offers multiple funding opportunities and financial aid packages for Native Americans including college students as well.

The eligibility criteria for receiving BIA financial aid include -

Establishing your financial need
Being a member of a Native American Tribe (Recognized with BIA)
Having at least one grand parent of Indian blood
Being enrolled in an accredited academic institution of higher education

Candidates can obtain the application forms from the agency office that looks after your tribal affiliation. In addition, students need to submit GED scores, letter of acceptance from college and their school's financial aid package.
